A Culinary Tour of Taipei

09/22/2008

Although the international spotlight was just recently shining on Beijing during the Olympics, that Chinese metropolitan center cannot compete with Taipei when it comes to cuisine, notes one writer and frequent visitor the capitol city. Culinary-minded visitors will find everything from excellent street food to fine dining, including perhaps some of the best beef noodle soup anywhere.

Other items on the multicultural Taiwanese melting-pot menu: Shanghai soup dumplings, communal hot pot dining, xiao chi (Taipei’s version of small plates), infinite variations on lu rou fan (ground pork stewed in soy sauce served over rice) and much more—and don’t forget a bag of stewed duck tongues to cap your culinary adventures.
