08/18/2008

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed the discovery of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, otherwise known as “mad cow” disease) in a six-year-old cow from Alberta. No part of the animal’s carcass entered the human food chain.

CFIA is conducting an investigation into the matter, attempting to determine the source of infection.
