McDonald’s Adds Angus Snack Wrap

06/08/2010

NEW YORK—McDonald’s Corporation has added further diversity to its snack options with the announcement that it is releasing an Angus Snack Wrap, based on its Angus burgers, this summer. As noted in a news item by Dow Jones, the new snack wrap will be released in June in the New York area and nationwide by August. It will sell for $1.99. Other wraps on the chain’s menu sell for $1.49.

The chain hopes that the pricing will help patrons possibly trade up from dollar menu items, thereby increasing total check averages and improving margins. Snack items have fared well during the recent economic downturn and continue to sell well. They fill a need for diners looking for a quick bite to eat between traditional mealtimes.

McDonald’s has noted that its snack-sized offerings have proven a strong driver of sales in its recent growth. As Bonnie Riggs, restaurant analyst, NPD Group, notes in the article, “Snacking serves a lot of needs.”
