BRENTWOOD, Tenn.―A culinary competition, among professional senior-living chefs, Ultimate Chef America, is taking place in select cities across the country throughout 2010. The first competition will take place on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Springs of East Mesa, a Brookdale Senior Living community, in Mesa. Other stops in Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Atlanta, and Jacksonville, Fla. are planned. The culinary professionals from Brookdale Senior Living, owners and operators of senior living communities across the country, will showcase their culinary talents during the competitions. During each event, two teams of four dining services staff members will compete during a two-hour cooking competition focusing on healthy cooking for seniors. A primary goal of the competitions is to “challenge peoples’ notions on healthy food choices for seniors,” notes Joska J.W. Hajdu, senior vice president of dining services, Brookdale Senior Living.
