Spain to Open Molecular Gastronomy School

12/11/2009

MADRID, Spain—The University for Gastronomical Science and the Center for Gastronomical Research and Innovation, housed in the Basque Culinary Center, San Sebastian, Spain, is set to open in Sept. 2011. The university will focus on studies related to molecular gastronomy.

The school will be offering a four-year degree in culinary arts. In addition to traditional culinary studies, students will also delve into such scientific subjects as the flavor chemistry. Spain is renowned for molecular gastronomy, largely due to the influence of Ferran Adrià and his landmark restaurant elBulli.
